I did an upgrade on my MTN contract via phone, convinced that it was MTN calling since my contract was almost over. Turns out it was actually a company called Cell Network. We discussed the phone specifics, VERY thouroughly, and the contract, which were recorded (on 18 Feb). I eventually received the phone from the courier company, but it was the wrong phone. After telling the courier company that this was the wrong phone, the lady advised that i should return the phone to a MTN outlet, which i tried to do (still under the impression it was MTN). Long story short, turns out the only thing MTN could do was return the phone to the warehouse where (after about three months) Cell Network would call me again and renegotiate the contract, which we already did, while paying for a new phone i do not have. This is absolutely unacceptable! They probably do this often and since the customers find out what PT it is to return the phones and now pay extra for a contract and phone that was negotiated already, they simply accept the phone. I must add that when i did try to phone Cell Network on Friday and again today multiple times, the calls simply did not go through. Never never never accept such calls (i only did because i moved to a rural area far from a MTN store). Upgrade your phone at an MTN outlet. MTN, Cell Network is changing your good name into a bad one.
