R18,000 bill and debit orders for account I didn't open

<p>Hey Mtn</p> <p> </p> <p>On 25 Oct 2016 an MTN debit order went of from my FNB account. I called FNB and asked how it happened, and they told me I need to contact MTN. The call centre didn't answer my call, so I sent a mail to customer care on 28 Oct, but no one rep****. Ever since then MTN have been deducting R488 from my bank account every month and I couldn't do anything about it. </p> <p> </p> <p>This morning I received a call from Munnik Basson Dagama Inc, telling me I owe MTN R18,000. Now I need to go to the police station and get an affidavit to confirm that I didn't open an account with MTN. </p> <p> </p> <p>How did this happen? How was it possible that someone else was able to create a debit order against my bank account, and then rake up a bill of R18,000 that I need to pay? </p>
