R1220.01 Data account even with a cap

On Wednesday the 2nd of September 2015, a debit order went off my account of R1220.01 for my ipad account, this despite there being a limit on this which was set a couple of years ago. Every month my ipad's data switches off, I contacted MTN and they advised me that when I reach my limit they switch my data off. I was happy with this arrangement as I would use the ipad and know that I have reached my cap once the data went off, every month my cap would kick in and my data switched off. Then in September I get this account, how is this possible?

I contacted your call centre and lodged a complaint, they advised me that they will look into the matter and contact me within 3 working days. It has now been a week and still no feedback.

Really dissapointed with the level of service I have received. with so much money taken out of my account they dont care whether I can pay any other accounts and are in no rush to try and assist with sorting this issue out.

I can draw all my statements from all previous months accounts where the limit came into working and it will be shown that my account was never this high.

Hello Bosbokao,

Thank you for your post.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused as result of the breakdown in the service delivery in one of our touch points.

Kindly be advised that the credit limit that has been put in place is as per the request from the NCA (National Credit Act) on all accounts. There is no guarantee that credit limits will always work. At times the account may be suspended after it has exceeded the credit limit as the system needs to update the customer's usage. The system shows that the data bundle was depleted on 2015-07-24 and thereafter the customer was charged on the out of bundle rate at R .87 excluding VAT. On the 2015-07-25, the account was suspended as the system picked up that the credit limit had been reached.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards,
Ayanda
