Pure Disgust

Upon being informed on the 15 March 2017 that I was eligible for an ugrade on one of my current MTN contracts, I decided to go see for something new at the Blue Route Mall MTN store. I was helped by a nice young lady who assisted me with the process of upgrading, I explained to her that with this upgrade I would like to receive 2gb of data per month as well. I was informed of the price it would be monthly and after consulting my girlfriend we decided to take the contract. I then signed the paper work and probably made sure three times that my package would include the 2gb as discussed with the consultant & I was assured that I would get it. I did not pay too much attention to the fact that I did not receive all my data as it would be pro rata for the first month. Following up on the next two months I then noticed that I was only receiving 500mb each month.

Before going into MTN Blue Route Mall I phoned the MTN call centre on more than one occasion of which no one could assist me, on Sunday 21 May 2017 I again phoned the call centre as I noticed I received 500mb, I called the 808 number and again no help was offered to me - I was told to call MTN direct, of which they could not help me either & I was advised to go into the store where the upgrade was done.

I went to the Blue Route store today upon learning that I only received 500mb for the month again. I spoke to a friendly gentleman who assisted me and said he will try to get the package changed as the cosultant who helped me selected the wrong price plan when doing my upgrade - I was supposed to be put on the My MTNChoice+ S plan yet the lady had me signed up for the My MTNChoice+ Talk S plan which I did not request and was not discussed with me, also I did not know there was a different plan upon signing the contract. The gentleman then put through the application form to have this corrected and informed me that it could take up to 3 months to change plans I informed the gentleman that this was not my error, he told that I've signed the contract already and they will hold me to that. I just feel very cheated by this whole incident. I have been a loyal MTN customer since March 2010 and never expected to be treated in such a manner.

1 - on 15 March 2017 when I walked into the store, I did so during my lunch break, I spent more than an hour in the store.

2 - the store got extremely busy and I just wanted to get done so that the consultant could assist the next customer in the queue - I did not expect the consultant to select the wrong option of contract.

3 - customers do not know the names of plans offered, I would never have known that the option on my contract is not the one I discussed with the consultant.

4 - the very first page of the contract only states the name of the option - it does not say what I get as part of the the contract.

5 - I do not receive a monthly sms on this specific number to let me know that I was topped up with data & minutes I had to check myself.

I find all of this to be disgusting that MTN, a well known cellular network provider, could be so unfair and unreasonable towards long standing clients, especially since the mistake was made by an MTN consultant. I don't see why it should take 3 months to fix an error that was no fault of mine.

Best regards,
I was promised a reply on the situation from the Blue Route store would take three days 3 days from Monday 22 May 2017 when I went to the store, It is now 12 days since the after the "three days" I was promised a call back on the enquiry. This is becoming very frustrating. No customer care, no courtesy call about the enquiry only a generic response on hellopeter. Yet my money is still being taken from me for a service I did not request. I'm shocked that consumers are treated so poorly.

The problem has been resolved 3 day after I went and the store could not get hold of me to contact me. Thanks to the consultant Waseem who assisted me.
