Promotion my foot!!

After being practically begged by the telemarketer and her supervisor to take out an extra data contract above my regular already phone contract and told me "my number has been chosen for the promotion", i finally gave in and said yes, just to receive an SMS 2 weeks later stating: "Dear Valued customer, your recent application with MTN has not met our criteria and we are therefore unable to proceed with your request."

How on earth does it work that MTN phones a client to tell them they are eligible for a promotion and then it gets rejected? Rather stop calling me about promotions all together than to make empty promises..
