promised credit over the phone in exchange for faulty phone - NOT RECEIVED

My SONY M5 was a warranty assessment and instead of giving me a new handset as stipulated by the warranty, they opted to simply cancel my contract and start a new contract. I was unhappy with this option as I had already paid four months worth of contract for my phone. Additionally, I was worried about the subscription and admin fees for the new contract. Over the phone, the sales department guy agreed to credit me with the money that I had spent on the handset (just over R400) and wave the admin and subscription fees. I was very specific that I was not willing to pay more than I had previously paid for the M5, but wanted to receive the same amount of data than in my previous contract. He found a contract for which I would only pay R240 +- (Not more than my previous contract of R250) with the p8 lite handset. THis suited me and I agreed to it. I received the handset, but when the bill came, to my surprise, the bill was R602!!! From what I understood I was supposed to have R400+ credit???!! Now the bill is more than I agreed to?
