Possible ********** SIM Swap

Today I logged onto my absa online banking and it stated that i couldnt do transactions as there is a pending sim swap on my account. Im out of the country so conatced customer support via email telling them about what happened. Customer service refused to help when i asked if someone has tried to do a ********** sim swap on my number and then stated i must give them a police certified copy of my id, an affidavit and a case number. Why in gods name would i open a police case just because i suspect that someone might be trying to ***** my number without proof. Customer service has been extremely unwilling to help in what might turn into a possible case of someone trying to ***** money through intercepting otps for online banking. I dont understand why i cant be told if someone is trying to do a sim swap on MY account. Im horrified that customer service is so defiant in what could turn into possible ***** and loss of money but doing whatever they can to stonewall me in trying to protect my ***ets. I guess this is what i have come to expect from what used to be a fantastic company.

Good Day daryl-monnink, Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN. Please accept our apologies for a lapse in service and for any inconvenience caused. Kindly be advised that our records do not show any sim swap request for your cell number and no sim swap has been processed. Please note that In an effort to protect our customers against ********** sim swaps and at the same time protect our brand, if the requesting cell number is still active on our network the sim swap will only be processed if the requesting cell number approves the sim swap. Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you. Kind Regards, Zukiswa REQ:***
