Porting number from MTN to Telkom Unsuccessful
I dialled 808 and had my contract cancelled. My contract was requested to go onto Pay As You Go. On the 6 February 2018 my contract was transferred to Pay As You Go.
On the 9 February 2018, I opened a new contract with Telkom at their Pavillion (DBN) branch. I requested to have my MTN number ported to the new contract.
The porting process was successful and I was told I had to wait between 24-48 hours for the porting to be active. It was explained that my MTN sim would be deactivated and that I could switch to the Telkom supp**** sim.
At the Store I received an automated call on my MTN sim from MTN. The automated call prompted me to either cancel my request to port or to ignore the call all together (which I did).
I've been to the MTN Pavillion branch, where I asked for advice and was told that I would have to call 808. When I call 808 and enter my number I am told I have a Pay As You Go number. I try calling 173 where I spend a significant amount of time trying to reach a customer service agent. My attempt was unsuccessful.
I have asked Telkom and they have suggested I contact you as there is nothing indicating a problem on their side. I cannot afford to to be without a number let alone a contract. I would greatly appreciate it if you could kindly escalate my porting process.
