Poor Service - New Contract not activated

I app**** for a new contract at Durban King Shaka Airport MTN Store on 21 December 2016 and I requested my number to be ported from Vodacom to MTN.. The lady (Zanele) who helped me just wrote my number to be ported on the back of a page (think it was on the back of my payslip), and indicated she will contact me as soon as the contract is approved. I got an SMS that evening to indicate that I was approved for the contract.

On 22 December I called the store approximately 26 times to query if the SMS I got is true and if I can come to pick up the phone, but nobody answered. I went to the store and after a long wait, I was told that only Zanele can help me. She eventually helped me and was about to sign the new contract and when I asked her if my phone number has been ported to MTN. She forgot that I needed to port my number. She then started port my number.

On 23 December I went to the store and she told me there is a slight delay on the port but she handed the phone and new MTN sim card to me and told me that the port will be active after 2 hours or so. Since then my phone has not been ported to MTN.

I must have phoned over 70 times within the next few days to get feedback, but again they only answered about 5 times. I asked for the store manager, however; she is on leave. I then spoke to Linda, who indicated he is the store supervisor but he cannot do anything for me and I have to speak to Zanele only. What service is that??? Why is he in charge if he cannot do anything? I asked him to please find out what’s happening with my contract and provide feedback but he told me that I must phone Zanele directly on her MTN phone number (he gave me her MTN number) and query the contract.

On 26 December 2016 I kept calling the Zanele and the store and eventually got hold of Zanele, who told me that there and issue when the sim number on her PC and she waiting for MTN to fix, and she will “phone MTN tomorrow” (27 December). On the 27 December I called again and Zanele indicated that they can’t do anything and she will “phone MTN tomorrow” (28 December) because she forgot that 27 December is a public holiday.

After I phoned and kept complaining that I don’t get any feedback, Zanelle started to call me back on 28 December 2016 to tell me that the problem is still not fixed and she escalated the problem to MTN ports department but still have not activated my line!

I am so tired of this poor service and I have incurred over R600 in cost to try to get this contract activated!

On a side note: the staff in the store really slow, seen more people walk out of the store then buy the item they want. So many other small issues that frustrate customers. Please train the staff to be more efficient.
