Poor service: MTN

I app**** for two MTN contracts on 28 November 2016 during the MTN Cyber Monday promotion. (The deal was for two contracts for R149,00 each. Each contract provided 200 minutes airtime, 200 sms, 30 meg data plus an additional promotional monthly bundle of 50GB data and 10000 minutes MTN to MTN airtime on each contract)

Mr Linda Majola at the MTN King Shaka International Airport branch processed my application. I went out of my way to obtain the relevant documents because the promotion was for the Monday only. I signed for the contracts and all my paper work was in order, I informed Mr Majola that i want to port two of my vodacom numbers to the two new contracts. Mr Majola informed me that was fine.

I received no feedback and contacted Mr Majola on 22 December 2016 and informed him that i needed to sort out the new contracts as one of the numbers i wanted to be ported to the new MTN contract was my wife's number and i wanted to give her the new contract on 24 December 2016 for her birthday. I informed Mr Majola that both the numbers were on Vodacom prepaid and the ports should not be a problem. Mr Majola responded that he will attempt to recapture the ports and there was a system delay.

I contacted Mr Majola again on 23 December 2016 and asked him what is going on with my contracts. Mr Majola only responded to me on 28 December 2016 and stated that they are still working on the ports. Mr Majola stated that the error was on their side. My wife's birthday had passed and i received no apology regarding this.

I contacted Mr Majola again on 30 December 2016 and asked him about progress on my contracts. Mr Majola did not respond.

I contacted Mr Majola again on 02 January 2017 and asked him what is going on with my contracts. Mr Majola responded that there was a delay with the escalation since departments were on holiday.

I thereafter received no correspondence from Mr Majola

I decided to contact Mr Majola on 03 March 2017 and asked him what happened to my contracts.Mr Majola only responded on 06 March 2017 and informed me "I had thought your quietness meant you had given up". Previous to this Mr Majola informed me that there was a delay with the escalation due to holidays and obviously i was waiting for him to contact me ounce the delay had been sorted out. Mr Majola further informed me that the contracts were approved and he will see if he can now activate the account.

Mr Majola then contacted me on 10 March 2017 and requested for a salary advice and three months bank statement again. He stated it has to be a new account. He had informed me on 06 March that the contract had been approved.. Anyway i provided him with the documents again and contacted Mr Majola on 17 March 2017 and asked for feedback.Mr Majola stated that the lines are approved but he cannot port my wife's number because there were system issues. We were now back to square one.

I informed Mr Majola that this is not acceptable as i had initially informed him the whole point was to port my wife's number and my number togeter. I informed him that i will be laying a complaint and to telephone me to sort out the issue. Mr Majola failed to telephone me and refused to provide me with his managers number after requesting several times. Mr Majola simply stopped all communication with me.

This issue is ongoing for over three and half months. Mr Majola has provided me with extremely poor service and it seems that MTN does not care about their customers or potential customers. It seems that Mr Majola was simply waiting for me to give up on the application as had previously stated.

I hope this issue is resolved timeously and measures are taken to stop this poor service by certain employees at MTN

Kind Regards

Mr. S Manickum
********** 783
