Poor service delivery and possible *******ity
Afrihost My post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/henry.badenhorst1/posts/*** refers. *** To whom it may concern, This reference, matter, and my Facebook post refer. It has been nearly 3 weeks and this matter has still not been resolved. I was informed by MTN South Africa, after an independent inquiry that they have performed a SIM swap on my SIM without my consent, notification, and knowledge. In the meantime, they informed Afrihost that the lack of connectivity was due to an MTN Tower failure that my router was supposed to connect to. Furthermore, MTN informed Afrihost that they were unable to provide a timeframe as to when it might come back online, so I was left hanging in the air, whilst paying for a service and data I was unable to access. For the last 3 weeks, the matter has been escalated so many times, and each time a different consultant with a different Reference number contacted me. Eventually, I contacted MTN directly, who informed me that they have performed a SIM Swap. 1. Who gave them permission or instruction to do so? 2. That SIM card is registered to my name when the RICA process was completed. 3. Someone else must now have access to the data under my name. These are serious legal implications that have consequences for me. MTN defers responsibility and accountability to Afrihost, who to my knowledge is unable to perform SIM swaps. So MTN is clearly in the wrong here. Here is their latest response: "Good day Henry, Thank you for your email. We apologize for any inconvenience incurred. Kindly note that we do not have access to Afrihost accounts, please contact them for assistance. Kind Regards, Kholofelo Sethibela MTN SA Afrihost is not off the hook, however, because I in my independent inquiry, which Afrihost could not discover in 3 weeks, discovered that a SIM Swap has been performed. Why must the client now investigate the matter and liaise between the parties, and why must I now from my Client Zone follow the steps to cancel and request a new SIM card? If I cancel this SIM card and request a new one, what happens to that number in my name? What if that person who is in possession of that card commits ***** in my name? Have you thought about these questions? Why are the legal departments of Afrihost and MTN not involved in this matter? There is something seriously amiss, and avoidance, deference, and escalation tactics are not going to make this go away. I want one singular consultant under the direction of the legal department of Afrihost to urgently look into this matter and make reparations ASAP. 1. I want my connection restored ASAP. 2. Send me the new SIM. 3. Cancel the old one and remove it from my name. 4. Refund the money and data loss. 5. Find out from MTN what is going on in their organization where SIM swaps can be performed without the client's knowledge and consent. 6. Apologize publicly for the stress, inconvenience, and financial loss incurred. If I don't get satisfaction I will continue on this course of action. Again each time a different consultant contacts me by email to arrange a time for a call, but then ignores me flat. I want to cancel the contract but there is a R999 penalty for exiting the contract before the 6 month period is over. I don't have access to my data which has accrued now to over 500 GB. R749 was deducted from my account at the beginning of June. It is 17 June, I still don't have access. Next step hellopeter. Then I will institute proceedings. I have lived and worked in Third world countries like Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kenya, Ethiopia and other war-torn romantic hotspots around the world, and never in my day have I experienced such delays and lack of service delivery. Can someone please start doing something about it?
