Poor service at mtn

I have been using my mtn prepaid SIM card for over 5 years now and about a month ago I unintentionally blocked my outgoing calls and I think I entered the wrong pin many times which led to my call barring being blocked. I contacted Mtn call centre on 173 a couple of time and they also couldn't help then I went to an mtn store in Menlyn and they told me to switch my phone off and to remove my SIM card for a couple of hours but still it didn't work then I was advised to perform a SIM swap which I did but even now I am still sitting with the same problem...I contacted mtn many times and with their 173 service number where you are not given an option to speak to a consultant.

I tried that code a couple of times and It gives me a message that there is a connection problem or an invalid MMI code and I was given passwords like 0000 and 1234 of which didn't work.
