Poor service

I have been struggling with mtn for almost a week now. My local store (Piet Retief/Mkhondo) keeps telling me that my surname is incorrect on the server and that they cannot do anything for me, but when I call MTN head office they tell me that there is nothing wrong with my account. What am I supposed to do, I need a phone and they are just useless with helping me. The past few days I have been in store, there where no less than 3 people who were complaining about poor services from them. Is it just me or is this unacceptable?
