Poor customer service MTN / Samsung

I was issued an upgrade phone in June 2017. MTN contacted me and told me I was due for an upgrade and because my S6 Edge was 32GB and I was battling with space, I agreed and got the 64GB S6 Edge.

Being a bit techno lazy and worried to transfer all my photos and info I stalled using the phone till earlier this year. After maybe 6 months of using it it started playing up and on inspection by 3 different MTN stores (no one seemed interested in taking up the issue) I was told Samsung that the battery was bloated. They then refused to assist me as the phone was apparently out of warranty. I was then told that the phone was manufactured in 2015.

So back off to MTN Northgate where after a lengthy battle they agreed to assist me as the phone was still in the 24 month warranty through MTN as the service provider. The phone was sent to Samsung who after 10 days sent an email to MTN stating that I needed to pay for the repairs. MTN Northgate had been sitting on this email for 4 days and had not bothered to let me know. When I spoke to the person I had been dealing with he said "phew I don't know" to ALL my questions. Why was I given an old phone? Why if I only started using the phone this year are none of the quarantees valid? Who can I deal with? What is your managers email address? And I can go on!

While I understand the timing of warrantees - to be told that the damage was my fault and that neither MTN or Samsung are even interested in my plight is just poor customer service and unacceptable.

I will be cancelling with MTN and getting my first iPhone as soon as possible

Jackie
