POOR customer service and ***** by MTN
Hi
I received a phone call Tuesday, 8 Feb, 2022 from someone claiming he is phoning from MTN.
He told me that someone is trying to do a sim swop with my number and he wanted my permission to stop this person. He sent me a OTP and as soon as I clicked on the message, my husband received a message saying that my credit has been increased to R10 000 (which basically means, I just "bought" R10 000 worth of data). This person obviously "bought" data on my name and now my account is R10 700. My husband went to MTN and luckily I still have all the data, this guy didn't have enough time to take it and "sell" it.
I need a credit on my account as firstly, I did not buy nor do I want this data! This was clearly an inside job, because the person phoning me knew my name, my address, all 4 our MTN numbers and with me opening my sms, he "bought" R10 000 data. So either, someone is trying to make a huge commission out of me or MTN is letting employees contact clients, to make more money. Because the only one benefitting out of this, is MTN! The person who phoned me never took the data and now I am sitting with 260 Gigs of data which I never bought and MTN wants me to pay for it. I don't want the data!
I emailed MTN customer service on Wed, 9 Feb 2022. I still haven't received a reply. I tried to phone the 135 contact number. The messages doesn't allow me to talk to a consultant.
Absolute POOR customer service!!! AND a violation of the POPI act!!! Because my information is clearly distributed by MTN for the whole world to see!!
My name is Frenette Plekker and my cellphone number is: ***
The account is in my husband's name: Neil Plekker and his cell number is ***.
We also have 2 other numbers for WiFi, we have been MTN clients for years.
