Please stop harassing me for incorrect MTN bill.
In 2016 I terminated my MTN 2GB capped data-line account after the contract expired. The contract was for two years and the fixed amount of R149 was billed monthly and paid via debit order from my bank account. The first month after I terminated the account, I was shocked to find out that MTN deducted an amount of R5365.84 from my bank account! I desperately tried to find out why, from the local MTN store, but their customer care or automated customer care services could not give me any answers, because my account was terminated. I reversed the payment of the amount on my account and after a few months of trying to get to the bottom of this, I was contacted by a debt-collecting company called SAYA, who claimed that I owed MTN R10,197.00 in total!
I was shocked because my data-line was capped, and I was not able to use more than the monthly 2GB unless I topped it up at an MTN store or agent. Since 2016 MTN failed to produce any evidence to me or my legal advisors Findlay & Niemeyer Attorneys (FN). I have been harassed ever since by two debt collecting companies appointed by MTN, the first was SAYA and the second Shapiro Shaik, Defries and Associates (SSDA). My legal advisors have been trying to get this information from SSD for more than two years, but they just keep ignoring them and keep on harassing me via SMS and phone calls. This has put me under immense stress and duress and MTN or SSD may call my legal advisor on *** and speak to my Attorney, Philip Morgan to finalise the matter.
