Phone been in repairs for 12 months -ZERO FEEDBACK

Took my phone personally for repairs last year around June, I have tried to call countless number of times but no success. The 2 times I got through they told me my phone couldn't be fixed so they will get me a new device, till this day nothing. Now I'v been paying R400 a month till now with no phone, I'v basically been ****** of R48000. I then decided to call the branch where I took out the contract to intervene, to my surprise they were told my phone has been sold because I didn't fetch it. Now what ******** is that, according to the consumer protection act, the client is supposed to receive some communication before their phone is dissolved, why am I suppose to do the chasing after them alone. I'm disgusted by such behavior by a so called reputable company
