Pending contract payment

This year I settled the payment that I owe with MTN in full and I was then told the contract has been cancelled Beginning of the month I received a call that I still owe them R1500 for the cellphone contract. How when I called them and settled the amount due and asked them to cancel and I was told it’s done now what happened to that money I payed them
