Pathetic service - stranded overseas with dead SIM
I had lost my phone around 21 May, had sent an email to MTN Customer Care to cancel the line immediately. Heard nothing from them and went into a branch about 2 days later and obtained a replacement SIM card / sim swop so no problem.

I received an email from [Email Removed] (Zandiswa) on 19 June 2015 (nearly a month later) asking whether I still want my SIM to be cancelled. In my response, I had expressed that it had taken nearly a month to hear from them - and that if they checked their records they would have known that the SIM swop was already done - had also expressed what weak service this is from a network I have been loyal to since 1998 (with a high average monthly bill).

Suddenly, my SIM card refuses to work anymore - which should not be a problem except that I am between Brazil and Chile on a work trip. So now,I am literally half way across the world, with a phone that doesn't work and contactable only on email! *** MTN,do you not understand how to run your business? I am glad in a way that this happened as it has cemented my decision to leave this pathetic network, am also happier that I wont be saddled with high roaming costs because they cant take criticism
