Pathetic Service

We app**** online for MTN’s Home Internet Pro 20 Mbps and paid a prorated amount of R471,90. When we received the router, it was not working. We called 135 to no fruition. We eventually DM’d their twitter account but they couldn’t help either. The whole experience has been a nightmare. In fact, it still is a nightmare as it has not been resolved. 1. We were told the sim wasn’t RICA’d which doesn’t make sense as they ask for your proof of address and ID for RICA purposes when they deliver the router. Anyway, we went to an MTN store to have it the sim RICA’d. 2. Next, we were told there was a Fixed LTE Device Location Violation Barring issue. No solution. 3. Next, we were asked to switch the router off & on. Still not worked 4. Next , we were requested to provide the whole subscriber details so that these could be emailed to MTN coverage. 5. Then MTN coverage emailed back saying that the number has a location violation barring active and they are not able to update the address as the contract status is on pre-termination. We must dial 083 135 or alternatively email *** for further assistance. 6. Next one we were asked to kindly visit a nearest MTN store so they could test the sim card and router and advise us accordingly. After the whole rigmarole, we opted to cancel the whole thing. Little did we know that we would be given a whole runaround on the cancellation as well.

1. Return the router to a nearest store. 2. MTN Store in Tygervalley Mall takes the router after taking almost an hour to complete a Customer Returns Document, gives us a reference and a number, *** to be exact, to call for cancellation. 3. When we called this number, they said it is not their router, we must phone MTN 135 for cancellation. 4. We got through 135 only after selecting the option to report ‘*****’. Otherwise, the number gets ignored. 5. After being transferred to various people , 135 says they can’t cancel it because it is ‘uncapped’, we must go to a store for cancellation. Did I not just say the store said we should call ***, which then said we must call 135 and now 135 says we must go the store. So, in summary, we paid for a service that was never rendered. When we try to cancel that service, we can’t do that either.
