Over R15,000 Paid, 20+ Days Without Service, and No Answers from MTN
My Experience: My MTN services for multiple numbers were disconnected without any notice on July 25, 2025, due to an account that MTN Legal had flagged for "pre-termination." Since then, I have been stuck in a loop of misinformation and failed promises.
Here is a summary of my experience:
Full Payment Made: I have paid a total of over R16,000.00 to settle all outstanding balances and cover a "re-activation fee," as instructed by MTN consultants.
Multiple Broken Promises: On July 28, I was promised service restoration within 48 hours. And again on July 30 and again on July 31. On August 6, a supervisor from the legal department personally guaranteed me that my service would be active within 24 hours. All deadlines passed with no resolution and No Feedback.
Conflicting Information: I have spent hours on the phone being transferred between departments (Legal, RICA, Billing, Customer Care). Each department provides conflicting information. Legal claims my account is active, while RICA and every other MTN dept states it is "Pending Activation", and the system status shows "pre-terminated."
System & Ticket Failures: I have been informed that one of my activation tickets was simply "cancelled" without explanation. I was also told an activation was "completed" on July 29, which was factually untrue as my services have been offline the entire time.
As of today, August 14, I have been without service for 20 days. This has had a critical impact on my life, preventing me from receiving essential banking OTPs and important professional correspondence.
The financial cost and the sheer amount of time wasted trying to resolve this have been immense. I require immediate restoration of my services and a full explanation for this catastrophic service failure. My Details/ Account/ Phone nums/ Reference numbers are available upon request.
My Desired Outcome: Immediate restoration of all my services, a formal explanation for the failures, and compensation for the downtime and fees paid.
