Over promised and under-delivered

I opened a contract with MTN during January 2016 through the telephonic direct sales department.

When applying I informed Ernest Tutuma Ngoma (the gentleman who assisted in the application process) of my intention to use a number which I previously used with MTN. He confirmed that the number was still available and I would be required to notify them when I activate the line that I wished to use the old number. I interject to note that at no stage did he inform me that I would need to have the physical sim card in my possession.

The phone arrived and when I called to activate the line I was informed that I would not be able to do so until I found the sim (no one ever advising me to get a sim swap - which is what I eventually did). I went to the branch in Rivonia where they made numerous unsuccessful attempts to connect my line.

My invoice arrives and I have been charged for the numerous attempts to connect the line. I reported this in January and it STILL HAS NOT BEEN ATTENDED TO. Today, they have disconnected my service. The call centre number rings for hours and hours.

I no longer want the phone. Please contact me to collect it.

Hello Zanele004,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Kindly note that you were credited on the 05 February 2016 for connection fee incorrectly billed. The reason your line is suspended is because of payment for the invoice of the 13 February 2016 which is still outstanding, payment was due on the 03 March 2016.

Rest assured that it is not our intention to displease you and we look forward to continue improving on our service delivery to you.

Kind Regards
Itumeleng
