I wrote the report below weeks ago and was told by MTN that they would get hold of me to sort it out and give me feedback. To date no one has!!

I have a contract with MTN in which I bought an Apple MacBook. Part of the deal was I received a MTN sim card and USB internet stick. I use the internet stick and sim card to access my account with Afrihost and have never been billed more than R700 in a month. My actual payments are R669 and only twice have I been charged more when I had used the MTN internet service past my limit. The sim card has never been inserted into a cellphone and for the last few months I've only ever accessed the internet through Afrihost which I pay separately for. In order to access the internet via my MTN account on my wifi I have to physically change settings on my wifi router, which I haven't. To add onto all of this I was out of the country for nearly two weeks in January, yet my January bill was over R1800. When I queried it I was told that I had accessed the internet to downloaded ringtones and pictures from my 'phone'. All of which is impossible. I've already asked my bank to reverse the payment and am cancelling my debit orders with MTN.
Best regards,
Best regards,
I have since cancelled my contract with MTN, after being overcharged and no explanation or reimbur*****t taking place. After having gone into their Bedfordview store to cancel my contract, filled out the necessary paperwork, I've since been charged R370 on 1 May and now the 1 June. I was told when I cancelled my account that there would probably be a pro rata amount due, which I assumed the first R370 that was deducted from my account was about. Because the same thing then happened in June I went into the store and queried it only to find out that instead of them cancelling my contract they upgraded the contract and supposedly issued me a phone.
Obviously this was done **********ly and I am now in the process of having this 'upgrade' cancelled and trying to get reimbursed the R740. MTN is an absolute joke, as if the Nigeria incident wasn't enough. Flippin' ridiculous.

I am still being charged for this ********** upgrade. Have gone in numerous times to the EastGate MTN store to try and have this cancelled and to get reimbursed to no avail. I have now cancelled ALL contracts with MTN and am in the process of having the debit orders cancelled and the latest one reversed. Have never felt so disgusted by a company's absolute disregard for a client and their willingness to carry on *****ing from me.
