Once you go MTN, you'll jump hoops to get out!

HI

I have two contracts with MTN SA that have been active for atleast the past 3 years . One contract had a April 2016 end date.

As I didn't want to upgrade or any surprises, I called MTN in early April requesting a termination and migration to prepaid, which is supposed to take 24-48hours. It took MTN more than a month to migrate the contract after numerous calls to their calls centers! I was given different reference numbers for the same request . And that is when my nightmare with MTN started. Note: The

Results from the botched migration:

1. My celphone insurance(one the phone taken out on the other contract, which is still active) was cancelled without any express instructions from myself for the insurance cover to be terminated. Also no one advise to that effect, just one SMS received telling me the nsurance is cancelled. Therefore I remain without any cover! I never bothered to ask why as I am tired of being j****d around by MTN

2. The services (Minutes+SMS+Data) that I received on my other active contract are no longer linked (provisioned) to the number I am using. So I call to inform MTN of their mistake/error and I am told It will take 4-5 workings to resolve. No problem, but then it has been well over 5 working days and I am still not getting the services that I have paid for. Meanwhile I am spending additional money to buy airtime! Can I just get the services I am paying for, Its been two weeks already. This is not asking a lot!

3. How come as a customer I cannot contact the retentions department directly, because even MTN call center reps cannot directly get in contact with Retentions to resolve customer issues even when they see that YOUR RENTENTION department is taking their time. What are they hiding from.

4 I will not start on the dissappering airtime on my account.

I have asked for a early contract termination fee and I will be taking up one those contract buyouts I see floating around. Thank you MTN for the Bitter end to an otherwise okay relationship

Thank you for your post.

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

Kindly be advised that upon a contract cancellationmigration all value added services are automatically terminated, MTN SP cannot bill the insurance without a contract. It is only 3rd party insurance companies that offer prepaid insurance on handsets.

Please note that when a number is terminated/migrated the remaining minutes are forfeited nor can they be transferred to another number shared on the same account number.

We have conducted an investigation on the claim that no monthly provision was done on the number which is still on contract, however as per our findings, normal monthly provisioning was done on the 2016-05-14 01:09:17. Your invoices are finalised on the 13th of each month therefore provisioning is day after the close of the invoice.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and would like to assure you that we are actively working to improve our service levels.

Regards

Nompumelelo
