On hold for 45 minutes and counting.

My wife and I cancelled our accounts with MTN on the 23rd of June (because of appalling customer service). I tried to follow up on the 27th by going into one of the branches, just to make sure it has been cancelled.

The MTN representative informed us, that we had to go to the branch where we submitted the cancellation to do the query. He couldn't check anything. I told him that was ridiculous. He started talking about the billing cycles, and how we should have cancelled before the 20th, even though our contract CLEARLY states our requirement is a written notice before the contract expiry date, NOT the billing date. But he wasn't interested in taking the discussion further.

He also informed us that they are franchisees of MTN, so they aren't really an MTN shop, so any issues must be taken up with MTN, not them.

Today I called customer service to try and resolve it. I've been on hold for 45 minutes.

This should be unacceptable, but I've come to expect no less from MTN.

Looking forward to the day I can throw my contract in the dustbin.
