Number portation

To whom it may concern

Day 1 (11 March 2017)

I walk in to the Vodacom Shop at Fountains Mall, Jeffrey’s bay. Member of staff helped me to look at the new cell phones on the market and we decided that the Hauwei Mate 9 will be the best for me.

I said thank you and that I will go and do some research regarding the phone, but I would also like her to send me other options as well. I went home and had a look on the internet at the best phones and decided the Hauwei Mate 9 is the phone that I want.

Day 3 (13 March 2017)

Vodacom assistant send me a mail and we had a look at the options. At this stage I realised that Vodacom was marketing a phone that they do not have. This is not assistant(she was doing her job), but Vodacom. The Hauwei Mate 9 was already printed in your books and the ads were set out to the public that you have them available.

The assistant sent me the options, but it was still impossible to know what the exact price will be as Vodacom doesn’t have a Hauwei Mate 9. So, I waited until you warehouse receives them.

Day 4 (14 March 2017)

Vodacom still has not received the phone and I start phoning other Vodacom stores only to realise that you don’t even have them in your warehouse. You don’t even 1 phone in the entire Eastern Cape. On this day, the assistant mailed me to let me know what is going on and keep me on board (doing a good job at that).

Day 5 (15 March 2017)

Still no phone or price on the package.

Day 6 (16 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 7 (17 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 8 (18 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 9 (19 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 10 (20 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 11 (21 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 12 (22 March 2017):

NO PHONE. The Hauwei Mate 9 that you advertised still has not arrived and do not have a monthly price for the package.

Day 13 (23 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 14 (24 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 15 (25 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 16 (26 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 17 (27 March 2017)

I hear an add on the radio that MTN is also selling the Hauwei Mate 9 and I thought to myself that it’s impossible. I walk into MTN at Baywest Mall and ask If they have the phone. Guess what they have 1 in store available.

I apply for a package and wait for a response for MTN to see if I am credit worthy.

In the meantime, I am still waiting for my Hauwei mate 9 from Vodacom.

Day 18 (28 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 19 (29 March 2017): NO PHONE

Day 20 (30 March 2017)

MTN has approved my credibility and we tried to port my Vodacom number on to the new MTN sim card. We tried to port the number 3 times, but Vodacom declined it every time. I contacted Vodacom customer care and they told me that it is MTN’s problem.

After speaking to about four agents finally one of them knew what was going on. They informed me that my number is still registered under a contract and I need to be registered on prepaid to put my Vodacom number on a MTN sim card. They said it will take 24 Hours.

Day 21 (31 March 2017)

Waited 24 hours like promised by Vodacom. Tried to port the number another 2 times (this is now the 5th time total) but Vodacom declined it.

Day 22 (1 April 2017)

24 Hours has come and gone. Tried to port the number for the 6th time but Vodacom declined. I phoned Vodacom and finally got to 1 person that can help. She assisted me and said that even thought my number is on prepaid it will still take some time for the system to accept it. She promised to phone me the next morning at 8am and she did (this was amazing seeing as it was a Sunday and she stuck to her promise of phoning).

Day 23 (2 April 2017)

Vodacom phoned me and said were good to go. I immediately got in the car and drove to MTN to get my new phone. MTN Tried to port the number for the 7th time, Vodacom declined.

Day 24 (3 April 2017)

Phoned customer care and got through to the manager. They promised to take care of it and get back to me. I am still waiting. I asked MTN to try port the number again (8th time) Vodacom declined it.

Day 25 (4 April 2017): Still sitting without a phone.

Day 26 (5 April 2017): Still sitting without a phone.

Day 27 (6 April 2017): Still sitting without a phone.

Day 28 (7 April 2017): Still sitting without a phone.

Day 29 (8 April 2017): Still sitting without a phone.

Day 30 (9 April 2017)

30 Days later still without a phone.

Without a package

Tried to port the number again for the 9th time and still it is not working.

Vodacom can you please sort this out. I am not interested in any of your packages anymore. I feel that I am being kept on Vodacom against my will as I do not want to lose my current number and Vodacom does not want to except it.

Please contact MTN at Baywest mall in Port Elizabeth and get this sorted out. I do not feel the need to go public with my message, but this is not funny anymore.

MTN if you could try to get a hold of the right people at Vodacom I will appreciate it.

Thank you

Thank you for your post
We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
Please be advised that we have requested the consultant to contact you, the port will have to be resubmitted as contract not prepaid. You will be contacted to obtain the Vodacom account number so that the port can be resubmitted as contract.
We understand that the entire experience must be very frustrating and hope that we can restore your faith in us.
