number for life
I have phoned the callcentre to get my number back, they can't help me aparently. I have to know the exact date when I last recharged. Never mind that the number has been on my name for 16 years. Most of my accounts and even my email is on that number. Even my hellopeter account. I have rica'd my sim years ago, did a sim swop once or twice to get with technology. Everytime I have shown my I'd and proof of residence. Why now am I not allowed to get my number back. My sim is damaged. My hubby has a contract with mtn that ends august. I will not renew it. I am dissapointed in mtn. All the lies they told the customers in the past.... I even went to a mtn store. They can't help me. What's the use of doing the rica thing and my identity is registered to that number, but I am not allowed to have it back???? Please I want my number back. You will have the info on my I'd number I provided. I gave a number I use now for you to contact me regarding this. 16 years is a long time that I have been faithfull to mtn.

Due to the number of sim swap ***** identified, it is our duty to try our level best to protect our customers and us as a service provider and the only way we can be able to do that, is to make sure we ask security questions and we do have to be strict about it as we cannot leave room for mistake.
There is an alternative to help you should you not remember all security checks as you mentioned, you may go to the police station and make an affidavit and attach the copy of your ID, the reason for this is for us to have a document of declaration from yourself so that should someone else call and claim the no. we have our files to refer back too.
We apologies for the inconvenience this has caused but please understand it is meant to protect you as our customer against any kind of misconduct and ***** that has escalated into an unbelievable scale.
We sincerely hope that you will have no further cause for any complaint in relation to our service.
