Novel concept: PROVIDE the SERVICE you are paid for!

Took out a data contract with modem in late November 2017, having first tested the signal (with a PAYG line) and having been reassured that there was sufficient coverage in the Groot Marico area to handle data.

It turns out though that whilst we are living in the 21st Century, MTN seem to be at least a few decades behind and are still in the 1990s. Whilst shouting from the rooftops about their fancy schamncy 5G "service" there are a great number of people - like my partner and I - who would actually just be happy with basic 3G. Or hell, even just HSDPA. Whilst we're at it, cell signal so that we could PHONE you when things go down would be an epic improvement.

Since taking out the contract and installing the modem in late November, we have been plagued with lack of signal every single time it rains. It doesn't even have to rain ON us - it just needs to rain - or be overcast - 40km or even 50km away and we can kiss the signal goodbye. Given that it is the rainy season in North West province, this means that we have zero - yes ZERO signal - for a minimum of 2 hours but usually much longer EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

This constitutes much much more than a mere "inconvenience". This constitutes loss of business (for my partner, who works from home) and poses a safety risk, as he has absolutely no means of contacting anyone in case of an emergency.

Hence, MTN are NOT a "service provider" because they are not providing us with the service that we pay almost R600 per month for. I would therefore like to cancel the contract - and no, I am not going to pay you for another 2 years' worth of NO SERVICE. Kindly contact me to arrange the cancellation.
