Not honouring offer and Gross Negligence

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have been a contract customer of MTN from 2009 and to be honest I never really had any issues until this last month. I recently came up for upgrade and wanted an iphone 7 +. After seeing that MTNs price was too high I proceeded to phone in and cancel my contract. They put me through to retentions were a lady by the name of Gertrude offered me three months for free on my contract starting from my March payment and gave me the phone I wanted at a cheaper price of R859 instead of advertised price of R959 (ref ********** 87). Given the outstanding offer, I said I will stay with MTN. She advised she does not have the phone in stock and I should go to a store and give them the reference and they will be able to do the deal. I was fine with that of which I went to Forres t Hill to get the phone. A very pleasant Conlsultant by the name of Spumeza advised she does not have the phone but as soon as she does she will give me a call after finalizing with MTN retentions on how to administer the discounted deal. She learnt last week after getting the phone in stock that Gertrude cant honour the deal and indeed has made a mistake. She advised that Gertrude will give me a call. Gertrude phoned me and told me of the mistake as well as offered me another deal. I was adamint that I want the original deal and if she cant honour it, she must ask her superior to call me. She advised she would on the 19th but I did not receive s call until today of which I phoned them myself. I finally spoke to a supervisor who advised she did make a mistake and they handled it internally. I do understand mistakes happen but this mistake cost me money of which I was seriously not impressed. I proceeded to cancel my contract and I am now on prepaid.

Given that MTN have taken so long I have now gone into the new billing month and expected to pay March installment as well. So this is what I am going to do, bare in mind that I have not missed a single payment in 8 years, the February instalment of roughly R1400 will be disputed by me and the March installment of roughly R700 will also be disputed by me. The second dispute is a no brainer as its your delay that put me into the new month. Given that you cost me three months free instalment as well as R100 over two years and which adds to roughly R4500, you actually owe me R3100. But its okay, I wont claim it :-) If you proceed to take legal action, I am happy to get representation and if not, I would like to have a statement of account settlement.

Cheers MTN,
Well done on losing a sure paying customer by pure negligence.

Please note that I have not received any feedback from Mtn and hence I have disputed the first debit order of R1300.00

I am still waiting on my statement of settlement, please be advised that if I do not get it in the next week, I will be referring this matter to the CGSO.

Hi Itumeleng,

Its been almost two weeks from your reply and a month from my initial post. We received the following sms on Friday:

'Yello, overdue account warning. Please pay R 1311.63 to avoid service suspension. Make payment to ABSA Bank, account no. ********** 150. Kind Regards, MTNSA'

It is clear that you'll are not taking me seriously and are not getting back to me. The amount disputed includes an amount for the second contract of which youll will not be receiving either from me until this is settled.

Pathetic!
