Non-compliance
I have a contract that expired at the end of Sep. Beginning Sep I tried to get hold of MTN to cancel this contract with no luck. When you need to cancel a contract they tell you to contact 135 and follow the voice prompts. The challenge is no one ever answers that cancellation line. I was travelling and was holding on that line from JHB to Bloemfontein and I eventually dropped off after 4 hours of holding.
I then decided to send an email. This was beginning of Sep and up to this date no one has answered that email. They just keep billing on a month to month basis to make sure that they keep their revenue going. It feels like a bogus **** where it's easy to get into the contract and almost impossible to cancel it.
Secondly they have shared my data with their partners because I am now receiving calls prompting me to upgrade. This is in violation of my rights as I have not authorised them to share my data since the inception of the POPIA Act. MTN is non-compliant with very bad service when it comes to cancellation of contracts.
