No Service for a week after doing sim swap

On Friday 4 September 2015, I walked into MTN East Rand Mall to do a SIM swap on my existing contract. I had to Pay R136.80 for a new sim card, where if I bought a pay as you go starter pack, including a sim card, would have cont R3.50. I committed to MTN for 24 months, yet I have to pay 40 times more for a sim card than a Pay as you go user.
It is now 1 week later and my new sim card is still not activated. I am paying my account every month, yet I have not had any connectivity for the last week. I have to phone them every day to find out where the problem is. The have an excuse every day and promise to phone back, yet they never do. I also phone the call center every day and they do not have any information on a sim swap needed to be activated.
I also have not received any invoices or statements from MTN since September 2014, yet the debit order is done on the clock monthly. MTN is the worst service provider I have ever dealt with and I will ensure to stop them from doing any business in the group of companies I am employed with.
What are my rights? Can I have a refund and have this card issued at another branch, or even better, can I go to Cell-C to take on my account?
