No service due to Strike!

I have a sky contract with MTN, not cheap if I may add

Last year October I started a new job, which required a contract phone with a open line, so I got the contract, now I have the problem, I'm going back to my old job, I phoned my local MTN store to find out if I can migrate to a more affordable contract, at first no one could help met, they keep on telling me to phone 808 and find out from them, when I phone 808 they tell me to go to my local MTN store, right so I went back to the store, finally they sent a email and got me a price. After about a week I phoned them again to ask if they could find out what the amount would be if I cancelled my contract completely, and so the same story started again, told me to phone 808, so that's what I did, spoke to someone there Ref number *** and the lady told me that that department is on strike, now that strike has been going on for weeks according to the staff at my local MTN store.

Now I have a problem, as I start my new job on 1 July 2015 and I cant afford the contract anymore, so everyone is on strike and I need to keep paying until everything is back to normal.

That is just unacceptable.

Waiting for MTN's feedback

Hello rijst,

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused and for the breakdown in service experienced.

The MTN Sky package that you are currently does not allow a migration to a lower package until the line is due for an upgrade on the 21st month. The benefit of the package allows users to make unlimited calls while only paying a fixed monthly rate.

We see that you've requested the early termination fee and we've done a follow up thereof and requested that you be contacted directly with the feedback.

Regards
Tim
