no service

Good day

I bought a Sony Experia M5 cellphone earlier this year Imei: ********** ********** 3. On 4 April i had to book the phone in as it was switching off unexpectedly and wont switch on thereafter. Only if you plug in your charger it would switch on after a few seconds. Leaving you stranded unexpectedly. When i booked it in i was told "yes the first M5 batches had faulty batteries". This was at Mtn hvrc centre in newton park pe. I was told that they have to send it to cape town to be fixed as there was a special way of opening seeing that it is sealed and water resistant. It was sent, returned and upon arrival the Friday I phoned and was told no they tested it locally and failed their qc tests and sent back again. I was not impressed and after cross questioning the lady i was given a number to phone myself which i did. The person told me yes they received it tested it and no fault found. They returned the phone. During this time i was left without a phone for two weeks. Which in my opinion is the stance of Mtn, oh well it is a repair warranty so wait...

When I received the phone a weeks later i discovered the one corner of the back cover, which apparantly is glued on to seal the unit, was ever so slightly lifted which raises the question was this phone water resistant tested af the repair? At the time i did not pick this up and needed the phone so desparately for work and did not book it in again.

Now i went on leave from the 18th of july to cape town and on my way in the car the phone just switched off and was just dead. For two days i was not able to use the phone and finally made my way to the HVRC centre in Montaque gardens in cape town. Upon arrival i asked the lady can one of the technicians not look at the phone quickly seeing that im on holiday here and no phone. She then said sorry that is not possible as they have stock take and it is 3 days, this was wednesday so that means it would only be looked at Monday. What nonsense is that? So once again customer must just wait as long as Mtn has their way... ***** customer service!

Also the lady advised me that the first batches are faulty in the box basically and why did i not say swop it out, but when i took it to the centre in Pe i was told sorry it is a repair warranty. So customers are misinformed..

Now this phone is faulty again and i have to continue paying for this phone and it is in for repairs than anything else.

I insist that this phone gets replaced as i am sure this is going to continue and I'm on the shortest end of this contract. MTN does not strive to give the best service as consultants are misinformed, does not assist customers to the best of their ability. Also Mtn gives no loan phones, turnaround time of repairs are excessive and does not give thing if their customers are down and frustrated as hell.

This is a contract service and paying monthly. If this is not resolved asap i will have to take it further by contacting the newspapers to maybe publish this experience that customers are aware of how Mtn operates. This never used to be like this as my family has been a customer of Mtn since 1998. Definitely my last contract with Mtn as there is no service. I have sent emails to ********** and phoned but I'm just being told there is not much we can do. Waiting for SSS cellular(Sony agents in SA) to make the call. I have phoned SSS cellular and they advised me that only if they can't repair it they will swop it out but with a refurbished device. To swop it out with a new one can only be done by MTN themselves.

Hopefully you will respond soon if you still care about your customers.

Repairing is not an option anymore.
