I app**** for a new cell phone contact on Thursday 14 December 2017 at the MTN store in the Standard Bank building on Simmonds Street Johannesburg. I was Informed by the male salesman that the application will take 3 to 4 days and I app**** for the Samsung Galaxy S8 after the salesman informed me that I will receive a free TV as well with the deal. On Thursday 21 December 2017(a week later), I have not heard anything back from MTN and believed that I have been declined. So we went on holiday with the Intention of applying for a contract with Vodacom. The next day(22 December) MTN informed me that my contract has been approved. We were already away on holiday so I was planning on going to pick up the phone(and TV) when we came back from holiday, as I need the new phone for work purposes. On the 2nd of January 2018 I went back to the store but found it was closed and only opening on Monday 08 January 2018. So I went back again on the 8th of January, just to find that the store's system is down and they cannot activate the contract and release the phone without an active system. I was also informed that the free TV was only valid for that one day??? So no TV either. I have been back to the store a number of times throughout this week and up to 13h00 today(Friday 12 January) the store's system was still down. Tomorrow I am leaving for 3 months due to work purposes. How am I supposed to get the phone now? Am I supposed to wait for another 3 months until I get back? MTN is one of the largest cellular providers in S.A. How can they allow this to happen? Especially with new customers? Or are they now making enough money out of existing customers and don't need any new customers? What do I do now? Tomorrow I am leaving for 3 months and needed the phone for this trip and business. This is unacceptable practice and very, very disappointing
