NO MTN CONTRACT FOR ME EVER AGAIN....I AM APPALLED
My contract with MTN was due to end at the end of Feb 16. Knowing that sometimes there can be issues, I phoned and prepared in advance to let them know that I'd like both numbers moved over to prepaid (there are two contracts under my name) They advised me to phone on the first day of Feb. All went well - they even phoned me to confirm the migration of both numbers to prepaid. The 21st of March came and, as expected, I didn't get my airtime but my husband got his. Mildly irritated I phoned the call centre to ask them why he got airtime (by the way, their customer service drastically changes once you've moved over to prepaid). The consultant told me that for some reason the number was not moved to prepaid....Go figure. She sent through a second request via email (and copied me in) on the 21st March to the Retentions Department requesting the number to be migrated to prepaid. However, I still had to pay for the contract for the month of March which I did not budget for. They debited my account I emailed a contact at MTN to see if anyone could help me. NO-ONE REP****. They couldn't have cared less that i was now out of pocket because of their mistake. After following up a couple times I finally got a reply asking me for my details - which i promptly supp****....then nothing. I followed up and followed up but nobody rep**** to my emails. After weeks of no joy I eventually had to threaten with Hello Peter. Viola, all of a sudden I got a reply. It wasn't very helpful though because all they said was "we are not sure whats taking retentions so long" This took so long that I phoned in on the 15th April (Yes it took that long). The lady on the phone said that my number was STILL not moved over to prepaid and that another debit order was scheduled to go off at the end of April. I was and still am absolutely livid. So I phoned my bank and asked them to put a stop debit on MTN and I also reversed the first debit order that they deducted. Now I am getting phone calls, emails and texts (funny how they only get hold of you when you "owe" them money) saying my account is in arrears and they will not move the number over to prepaid until I have settled my account.....you've got to be kidding me right?? I spoke to a lady yesterday who phoned me to chase money and she said that she will request the phone calls made in Feb where I requested both numbers to be migrated. She came back to me and said "your emails never mention that you want your second number moved over to prepaid...only your 083 number. Please pay up." I then rep**** and asked her if she had requested the calls that I made, because the request is on those calls. I also sent her the proof that one of their own staff members asked for it to be migrated on the 21st March for a second time. And guess what?....NOBODY REP****!!! It is now the 6th May and they have still not helped me. I am disgusted. Do not get involved with a contract with MTN. Once you in, they will never let you leave. You can ask till you are blue in the face, they will not let you go. And it will come out of your pocket. They only care about you when you are involved in a contract with them. Once you leave they couldn't care less about you. I was thinking of renewing and getting a new phone in a couple months but if this poor customer service goes on, I am moving networks for sure!
