No Joy with MTN uncapped WiFi LTE contract
To this day I can never explain to anyone how the month to month contract for MTN works. When you apply you are told you make 3 initial payments... 1. Pro-rata, which is for the period before your new/first month of the contract starts (example 27 - 31st July) 2. The payment for the 1st month (example 1st - 31st Aug) 3. Payment for the next month (1st-30 Sep) Then I also later found out that you pay a sim card fee, when you get it at the walk in center, and not online)
I checked for coverage in my area, got mtn home pro for R399 for almost 12months before it's started saying I've used more than my fair usage and and I need to upgrade. The next package was Home premium for R499. for 3-4 months I tried without any luck to "upgrade", which I came to realise, you can't upgrade but must rather get a new contract and cancel the current 1) I went to 2 MTN shops to enquire and was told I'd need to drop off the router and be without connection for 21 days and my cancellation would be processed and then after and only then can I apply for a new contract with more usage allowance. 21 days without a connection is not possible, so after 2 months of not luck still, I decide to gave 2 contracts simultaneously, according to them, because the 1 is still undergoing cancellation, mind you I return the router to the shop and submit i am cancelling, and I open a 2nd contract. The logic in my mind is, I should get a refund for the month of August, seeing that i returned the router to the shop on the 27th of July and had paid for August on the 4th of July which was my billing date, because the router is in the shop and I clearly have no way of using the router for the month of August. I make 4 payments (sim card, pro-rata, Aug and September) on the 27th of July after signing the cancellation of the "1st router".
To date I have called, emailed, walked into the shop and no one can explain why I still have not received a refund for August after the agent atbthe shop, 2 weeks before the 27th of July confirmed I should return the router before the new month (August) to be eligible to receive the refund, 3 months later, almost 4 months for a refund of R399. Really MTN? I've been with mtn and using the same number since I had my first phone. To receive such an *********** service is besides me because it seems not agent or supervisor I have spoke to can resolve my query and they all just say they will call me back and never do.
