NO HELP from MTN for contract clients during lockdown..
I’ve been an MTN contract customer for over 15 years and never missed a single payment - not once. I have 4 contracts totaling R3,500 a month.
Tried at the end of March / beginning of the lockdown to make arrangements to hold off on my debit order for 15 April, as I knew I would have no income whatsoever for the lockdown period - I offered to resume my payments from 15 May again.
All I got from MTN’s ‘customer service’ was that they switched me from debit order to cash/eft payments and that I now owe for 2 months.. which I immediately asked an explanation for, as I have never missed a month’s payment. All they could say is that “it’s for a previous month that you didn’t pay” - which is absolute *******, as my payment runs every month on the 15th.
I then asked how many days grace I would have to pay having been switched to cash payments and was assured that they allow 21 days grace and to just pay in that timeframe to ensure my 4 numbers don’t get disconnected.
Then yesterday, the 14th, a day before my 15th of the month payment date, they disconnect all my numbers!!?? No notice, no offer for payment arrangements - and obviously no 21 days grace period as promised.
Considering the tough times we are going through with the lockdown, the fact that I’ve never missed a single payment before and been a customer for over 15 years - you would think MTN could treat their customers a bit better than this!!
My internet banking is linked to one of these numbers which I now can’t access as well.
I actually find it disgusting that they can treat customers like this!
VERY DISAPPOINTED MTN!!
Will.
Much appreciated!
Much appreciated!
Having endured a very trying time like many, many people for the last 5 months, I was unfortunately not able to keep up with monthly payments.
Last week I get an urgent message that if payment is not received within 24 hours, all my services will be suspended and I will be blacklisted.
I quickly make an urgent plan to get some funds and head off to my usual MTN-owned store. I get told that if I can just pay the 90-day plus arrears (R10,600) then all should be fine and I can catch-up the rest in the next few months by paying 1.5 times my usual payment.
The following day I get told that is not sufficient and I have to pay ALL the arrears - making further arrangements for more funds, I pay the remaining arrears of R7,053.00 with the assurance that everything will then be fine and my suspended numbers will be reactivated.
A week later, the status on my account is still ‘closed’ and my numbers have not been reactivated - keep in mind that I have now paid R18,000!
I keep asking what is happening - only to be told it is ‘with Legal’ - not sure if I am now going to be handed over for zero arrears....??? And if I am now expected to pay R3,500 a month for NO SERVICES..?
I’ve never dealt with any service provider that doesn’t reinstate your services after being paid in full.
Even an email to their Complaints Management Team gets no response.
Reminder again that I have been with MTN for 15 years and I have NEVER missed a SINGLE payment via debit order in that time - not once - until Covid disrupted my income. Luckily that has now improved.
So, I now have no idea what more these people want from me - maybe the shirt off my back - I’ve paid- my account is up to date - what more must I do..???
VERY annoyed!
