No customer service in times of need
On a recent trip overseas, I had asked MTN to activate my roaming for the first time ever. I tried to log in to the MTN app while overseas, to check how much I had spent against the limit MTN had forced on me before I left. The MTN app decided not to allow me to log in using biometrics. It insisted on a PIN instead. Because the MTN app had always allowed me to use biometrics before - like all successful apps worldwide - I had no idea what the PIN was. And it went downhill from there. The MTN app would not allow me to reset my PIN. When I contacted MTN for assistance in resetting my PIN, explaining that I had forgotten any original PIN, they asked me to supply the PIN before they would help me. How does that make sense in any universe? I still can't get in to the MTN app, and I have no idea how much was spent on roaming or how much was left against the MTN limit they imposed. If this is the best they can do in terms of customer service, it might be time to move to Cell C or Vodacom.
