NEW SONY Z1C DECLARED BER DUE TO LIQUID DAMAGE
The last time I was able to use my brand new phone was just before New Year during the holiday season, when I put it on charge. After ample charging time, I took it off charge but my phone was unable to start and completely dead. In January, I submitted it for repair at MTN Centurion Mall, and they've sent it to the HVRC in Midrand. The phone came back, not repaired due to the warranty being voided because the phone suffered liquid damage and was declared BER. There was no sign of any condensation on the cameras and all the liquid indicative strips underneath the covers are still white (as opposed to red when in contact with liquid). However, the assessment showed signs of internal liquid damage. As I previously had a Sony Go, I know the rules regarding use in water. My covers are always tightly closed. I now have to take it to Sony in Johannesburg, but can not find time and I am still paying my phone off each, while not being able to use it for four months already. On top of that, my cancellation fee is charged at just below R 5000. I have been using Sony phones since I started using phones, and I was always an extremely customer. I'm truly disgusted. How in the world can this be?

Apologies for the delayed response and inconvenience caused.
Kindly note that every cell phone has at least one \Liquid damage indicator\" that you can see. Most have additional indicators inside the device that only a technician can see. Liquid damage does not only refer to water damage but to other things such exposure to any form of moisture including body sweats
