New Customer Increases without Informing Them
On 26 Jan 2026, we decided to go on a month-to-month contract with MTN, for home internet for R399 per month. I had to pay in advance the few days left in Jan, and for the month of February. That total was R476-23. Well, Feb comes, and MTN tries to debit another R420-39. This is apparently for March. We can't understand this as we went into agreement of R399 per month, and this amount was R21 more. I tried to email asking why is this so, and I got emails back and forth saying that it is a price increase, which I do not understand as it is a new contract. They also said the letter stating that an increase will happen, but we did not receive this at the time of entering into the contract. In the letter states an average increase of 5.4%. This would take our bill from R399 to R420-55. So then why are we getting emails that it is R458-85 after increase?
We chose this R399 package because it was affordable, and better priced than our previous provider, but now it is not so affordable seeing that an increase to place, which makes it more compared to our previous provider.
I am disappointed in that you implement increases on new customers which were not aware of the increases, and that we are not getting a proper answer from you. If the increase stays at R458, then we want to cancel immediately.
