I recently app**** for a new cellphone contract at MTN using their online application system. The application went smooth as a result I was happy because everything was processed in a day and I new I had been approved on that day. One of the requirement fields in the application is you have to provide a secondary number for them to contact you on for delivery or the application won't go through so I supp**** my brother's number as a secondary contact detail.
Now my brother gets a call from the courier company that they apprantly use at mtn but the funny thing is the courier company only has the secondary number as the primary number and therefore doesn't have my number as a point of contact. So I called the courier back and they told me to call MTN and update my contact details. Sure I see no problem in doing this even though the contract that I got sent after applying had both numbers on there.
I call MTN on this number *** and got connected to a lady named Samantha and I explained my problem, she says she is going to transfer me to the relevant person and I kept on hold until their lines hung up. So I tried to call again and a lady named Amanda started asking me a multitude of security questions which I answered but seemed not to be helping because she kept going back to ask me for my number and I would explain to her again that the reason I'm calling is to fix that so the number they have down is not my number but my brother's. She starts getting fed up with me getting fed of all these now seemingly pointless questions as I feel the process is not going anywhere. I voice my frustration to her and she absolutely lost it and wanted to send me back to "the people that were helping you first". There was absolutely no who helped me before as I did this thing online. So we get into a back and forth and she transfered me. I spent an hour being transfered from person to person without finding a solution to my problem. Mind you each time I get to a new person they ask me a number of security questions which I answer and then after they transfer me to "someone relevant". I got transfered about 7 times to a lady named, Natasha (couldn't help), and then to Roriseng (couldn't help), to many others and then to a lady named Lihle who was cordial enough to try to help me but apprantly couldn't help me too so I tell I dont want to go through with the application anymore I want to cancel, after the security questions drill so she too transfered me to what I now believed was going to be the cancelation department. It was not, it was another person with more security questions, I ask this lady if she is the cancelation department and she says no so I ask her to transfer me and she refused says she has to first ask me security questions before she transfers me. I ask her why do you need to do that when you are not even the right department to deal with me? She couldn't answer that all she knew was that she couldn't transfer me. I relented and as I was answering the security questions one more time she became quiet and the call got disconnected. Left me furious as I can't even do a simple cancelation let alone update my contact details for this application.
