Never take the month-to-month package from MTN

I needed to purchase the 1TB month-to-month package from MTN as this was the only option I had and it set me back around R959 per month and my area did not have any fibre yet. The package deal really attracted me as it was not a contract and I am allowed to cancel any time.

The first month was an issue already as they required you to have an upfront Payment of R2000 for the router and get the first month free as stated on their contract, but they have charged me the R2000 as well as the R959 for the package which took around 2 months to get a refund back for the incorrect debit payment.

A few months go by and we finally received fibre in my area which meant I had no use for the month-to-month package anymore. So I cancelled my package last month on the 7th which I did not mind spending the R959 for it as I needed to give a 1 month notice of cancellation. But to my surprise I did not know they were going to take another R959 and cancel the line anyway this month. So I am paying almost R1000 for a service I am not using anymore.

I am furious as the "customer service" champion advised that there is nothing they could do about the debit order.

My advise to anyone is to Never take the month-to-month package from MTN
