Never sign on with MTN you will never get out of a contract.

I cancelled my contract as I emigrated. Phoned MTN and was put on hold for 25 min. I was told to pay the remainder of the contract fees in person at a MTN shop. Arriving at the shop in Brooklyn the attendant said I need to phone retentions again. Its like we are back in the dark ages. I paid the amount and asked the shop attendant to confirm that the contract will be cancelled. She said I need to call retentions again to follow up in 24 hours that the contact will be canceled. Seriously? Anyway I did call again and was told my funds were received and the contract will be cancelled. Low and behold today I receive a email from MTN with this months Bill. No cancelation. So now I need to call from the UK at international fees and hold on for retention department for 25 min costing hundreds of rands. I have called twice today and both times the line was dropped.
