Never cancelled my contract and still take my money

Would have given 0 stars, but it's not possible.

In late January/early February 2020 my husband phoned to cancel my contract as he had taken out a contract on his name for me. He was told that he could not cancel it on by behalf as he was not authorised according to MTN. My husband explained that I work at a law firm and dont have time during the day to sit and wait for a call centre to cancel my contract. He was then told that I could send an email to *** explaining my situation and to cancel my contract. This was done on 5 February 2020 to which MTN responded saying they cannot cancel this way...

My husband then phoned them again and this time added me to the call via conference. I told the contact person that I would like to cancel and I was informed that there will be a 1 month cancellation fee, due to the contract only being a sim-only deal. I agreed, and now we find ourselves 2 months later and the contract still going strong and debit order going off as well.

I requested it to be cancelled and my number ported to pay-as-you-go and this clearly was not done. Now you have taken my money again even though you can see I requested the cancellation 2 months ago and havent been using the phone, the airtime nor data since then.

I hereby formally request that you refund me this months instalment as last month was supposed to be my last. If you do not cancel my contract with immediate effect, port my number to pre-paid and refund my money I will be forced to take this matter up with the Ombudsman.

Lockdown or not, this was requested a month before the 1st case of coronavirus was confirmed in this country.
