My dissapointing new MTN contract
<p>I've been a loyal mtn (prepaid) customer from the first day I got my very first handset n I've always been satisfied with their service. This was until July this year when I lost my handset and since I had just landed my very first permanent job a few months earlier I decided to spoil myself and get my very first contract phone. Excited at the idea I visited an mtn store n immediately spotted a great deal that looked perfect for me. It was of a Samsung Note 4 a phone I've always loved. The guy at the store was quick to tell me how difficult it was to get it as it was being phased out but I insisted he tried finding it before I made an alternative decision (especially since it was the only one I really wanted) that very same afternoon I got the number of MTN Direct where I spoke to a sales agent with my first question being do you have the note 4 in stock? He quickly said yes and shortly after we were discussing paperwork and the deal went through, a few days later the phone was delivered to me (12/07/2016). I must admit I was very impressed with how quick and efficient the service was. When the sim was connected about two days later I was excited to finally have it working only to realise the handset had a factory fault giving me poor service and bad reception 99%of the time. I called MTN Direct to report this I was told I had to take it to a repair centre (closest in Midrand) so it can be approved as faulty. It was approved and was told to call MTN Direct back to report this so I can get a new handset. I called n was told I need to speak to the salesman who dealt with my sale who was sent several emails before he eventually got back to me, he told me there is currently no stock but they should have stock coming in soon. I was the one who had to constantly call to check update of my query and since I had to speak to him directly it proved to be a mission, the call centre agents would always say they would get him to call me back but he never would (this happened several times over the course of a few weeks). He would call once in a while apologising profusely and the call would always end with a promise that he is working on it, his supervisor is aware of it and he would call me back to update me which ofcourse he never did. Today is almost two months and I am still without a phone and without and alternative solution. I have been debited for this deal of which a portion of it was for a handset which really got me upset. MTN direct has made my first contract experience an unpleasant one me, till today I am still waiting.......... If anyone from the MTN Group cares to help me please contact me on **********

Hi Ayanda
Thank you for your response. The sales guy responded on Monday as i had asked him to cancel my contract since i did not receive what i had wanted (samsung note 4) and wasnt going to either as the phone is out of stock and being phased out but unfortunatelty i learned that the contract is binding and i cannot cancel it, despite the fact that i had not received the phone i had signed the contract for. He advised me to choose another handset, unfortunatelty for me the options i had to choose from were not to my liking and was forced to choose a phone i did not like as i cannot go on another week without a phone as i use it for my work. So i picked a handset on Monday and am currently waiting for delivery. I wont lie i am still not happy as now i will be stuck for a phone i didnt want for the next 24 month according to my contract.
i had also mentioned that i was debited of which a portion of it was for a handset so if you can pleaase follow up on that and find out what will happen to that money. My number is ********** 495.
i look forward to hearing from you.
