MTN’s staff are rude, and dont know much about the products they sell. I recommend Telkom.

I went to MTN Northgate with my partner to go buy a pocket router for his rain sim card. We walk in the store and don’t receive assistance. So we walk up to one of the consultants and ask her specifically for a pocket router for a rain SIM card and she says nothing but point unclearly to a wall of electronics. Then we asked another consultant the same - specifying it was for a rain SIM card and he showed us one and walked away. We went to our third consultant who sold it to us - we again asked if it was okay to use a rain SIM card. He assured us it was. Well it wasnt. And this was at a mall an hour away. So we went to a mall near us - Brooklyn mall - and asked if they could arrange a refund or any other way of us getting a refund without having to drive 2 hours. They couldn’t be bothered to help us, yet alone look up from their phones when speaking to us. So after asking multiple sales consultants and being reassured multiple times by three different consultants, we had to drive 2 hours once again to get a refund as a result of MTN consultants being so unaware of what they’re selling. We then went to Telkom at Menlyn who we found to be very helpful and polite.
