MTN's Shockingly Poor Service

In May 2020, I paid MTN as usual via EFT. In June, I was told that I had not paid for May. Between May and December, I have been trying to take the matter up, calling almost very week, being put on hold for long periods. I have sent proof of payment to Sam Mathebula, Rheineth Maloma, Snegugu Munculwana, Sandile K****, Sinekosi Phungula, Charlene Naidu, Ndumiso Zikalala and recently, to Jothika Abbanna. I have also taken this proof of payment to two different MTN stores. All the consultants promised that they would rectify the error, but to no avail. Recently, one of the agents admitted that instead of taking the amount off my bill, the billing department had added it again (doubling the initial amount, pushing up my so called arrears). My contract came to an end in November 2020, but the MTN 'Retentions Department' refuses to let me cancel it, due to the 'arrears' on my account. I have piously paid my account every month and have proof of payment. I am exhausted by the constant phone calls to agents who promise to address the matter and nothing happens. It's been 7 months. And I'm ********ly bound to a contract because of MTN's refusal to cancel until the matter is 'resolved.' Jothika Abbanna has been trying to take the matter up, but has told me that it cannot be resolved immediately, it takes time. How much longer than 7 months? In this time, my phone was suspended twice for the 'arrears', at one point while my father was terminally ill in hospital and my cell number was the only number the hospital had for next of kin. There has been no accountability on the part of MTN at all. Please don't take out contracts with them, their customer service is non existent.
