MTN’s Poor Service – Unfortunately, Not Surprising
I signed up for MTN Home Internet on Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 1:36 PM (Shesha @ 600). I noticed they had already debited me for a prorated portion of July and what I assume is the full month of August—none of which was clearly communicated.
The router arrived on Monday, 14 July around 11 AM. That’s when the real issue began.
MTN claims SIM activation takes 2 to 24 hours (strange, since many other providers can do it instantly). During this time, I'm already being charged—from the moment I signed up on Saturday.
By Tuesday at 11 AM, the service was still not active. I called MTN and was met with unhelpful and unapologetic responses. I was told the issue would be escalated and could take another 24–48 hours. If I wanted faster service, I’d need to visit an MTN store. Seriously?
All of this while I’m being billed for a service I’m not receiving.
Now it’s Friday, 18 July 2025— almost seven full days since I signed up—and I still have no internet. Yet I’ve been charged as if everything is working perfectly.
Unacceptable.
