MTN's pathetic contract process

3 days in a row to visit a MTN Canal Walk and still not get a SIM only data contract activated. Another 2 days phoning and trying to get MTN to assist to no avail.

Now I am stuck at home with a SIM that is not activated and MTN customer services claim that I must 'go to the store, as they do not have the same system as the store'.

On Tuesday morning 24th March 2020 I went into MTN Canal Walk to open a SIM only data deal, with all the required paperwork. After a 3-hour long process I was told it was awaiting approval from head-office, and I could only get the SIM the next day.

Wednesday I went back to the store to collect the SIM. Another hour waiting for activation. At closing time I was told it would be activated 'within an hour'. Many hours later it was still not activated.

Thursday morning I phoned MTN Activation's department, to ask why the SIM was still not activated, only to be told that I must go back to the store because their system is not the same as the store system. Really??

Thursday afternoon go back to the store only to be told that my contract is 'stuck' in their system. The manager tried to complete the application, and then it was referred to 'back-office'. I walked around the mall for an hour and then went back to the store. They said it would be finalized by the next day and so I went home, preparing for lock-down.

Of course Friday lock-down came and went and still no connection on the SIM . Phoned the store all day Friday but the number I was given cuts off immediately.

So now I am stuck at home with a SIM but no connection. Way to go MTN #lockdownfail
