MTN's Deceptive Practices: A Saga of Theft and Incompetence

Dear MTN Team,

You have ****** R996 from me as of December 4th 2023. This will be posted all over social media, business sites and review boards.

I am utterly disgusted by my experience with MTN's services, particularly the Uncapped Home Internet 10 Mbps line, which has proven to be nothing short of a complete ****.

Over the course of just five months, MTN managed to *****thily ***** a staggering amount ranging from R996 to R1245 from me, all under the guise of their supposedly customer-friendly policies.

In May of 2023, I subscribed to MTN's Uncapped Home Internet 10 Mbps line for R249 per month, lured in by the promise of a Month-to-month, Cancel Anytime, no-contract package. Little did I know that this would turn into a nightmare.

In August, I no longer needed the internet line. Thinking I could easily cancel as advertised, I visited an MTN store on September 3, 2023, a day before the scheduled debit order. Shockingly, the consultant informed me that I couldn't cancel until the debit order for September had gone off, despite already paying for August. He told me it is just how the "system" works.

Returning on September 7th to cancel, I encountered yet another roadblock. A different consultant claimed I needed to provide a 30-day notice to cancel, contradicting the advertised "Cancel Anytime." After returning the router and paying R249 for September, I was assured the debit order would be canceled.

To my dismay, on October 4, the debit order went through again. When I complained on November 4, a third consultant revealed that the initial cancellation request from September 7 had not even been logged. He promised to rectify the situation and credit everything back to me.

Fast forward to December 4, and I'm debited once again, totaling a mind-boggling R996 ****** from me. Three different consultants, three store visits, and four months later, nothing has been fixed, returned, or done to address this blatant theft.

MTN's incompetence is beyond belief, and I suspect another debit order in January, bringing the total to R1245.

Their lack of effort to contact me or resolve the issue proves that they are not just negligent but actively engaging in theft from their customers.

Sincerely, Nikki
